Welcome new LBCC Rotary Scholars!

Gail Schwandner, LBCC Chair of the LBRSF, along with other members of the LBRSF Board, welcomed and hosted tables of new Long Beach City College Rotary Scholars for lunch at the LBCC Bistro, operated by students in the Culinary Arts Program.

New Rotary Scholars from Lakewood, Poly, Wilson, Jordan, Millikan and OFL were presented with certificates honoring them as scholarship recipients and were able to interact with Rotarians and LBCC Administrators including LBCC Foundation Executive Director Elizabeth McCann, Interim Dean of Student Affairs Alicia Kruizenga,  Associate Director of Scholarship & Outreach Shyra Compton and LBCC Director of Communications (and new Rotarian), John Pope.

The LBCC Bistro (open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:30am-1:30pm) and Bakery (open Monday – Wednesday from 10:30am-1:30pm), with seven instructional kitchens and TV monitors, is open to the public and features a revolving prix fixe menu for $15, focusing on cuisine from various regions.

The Long Beach Rotary Scholarship Foundation has been offering scholarships to Long Beach Area students for over 60 years. We are the single largest donor to student scholarships at LBCC and the second largest donor at CSULB!
